Under 8's Comets enjoy day in the sunshine at Liverpool Academy

April 2011

Monday 11th April 2011
On Sunday 10th April the Under 8's Comet's were invited to test their abilities in 2 matches against Liverpool's Under 7s side at the impressive Liverpool Academy complex in Kirkby. Our Comets put in 2 excellent, (but energy sapping) performances in the balmy weather as the parents proudly watched on in what was an fantastic experience for boys, families, friends and coaches.

Joe Pospisil scored twice and Rory Williams netted once as the Liverpool sides, including AC Hoylake's U7s Star Callum Walsh, were given a stern test through both matches.

Under 7's Stars shine against the
big academies

February 2011

From November 2010 to February 2011 AC Hoylake's Under 7's Stars tested their undoubted skills against 4 major local acadamies. by Dean Walsh

AC Hoylake Stars: 5 Liverpool Academy First Team: 10
Out of the 4 Academy teams we played Liverpool were definitely the most technically advanced ability wise. In the 1st two quarters we didn’t get near Liverpool & we ended up 5-0 down. In the 3rd quarter the boy’s head’s didn’t drop  and we managed to push are defence up 10 yards allowing are Midfielders to get on the ball to create chances for themselves and the forwards. In the last 2 quarters we managed to score 5 goals against Liverpool which was a great feat and probably due to the opposition was our best performance out of the 4 academy games we played.
Goal Scorers: Mcgraa x2, Murphy, Porschke, Walsh

AC Hoylake Stars: 2 Tranmere Rovers Academy: 4
This was a very physical game in which I thought we definitely won the midfield battle and could have easily won the game had we took are chances. Tranmere scored 2 very good free-kicks which was ultimately the difference between the 2 teams.
Goal Scorers: Mcgraa x2

AC Hoylake Stars: 3 Everton Academy Development Group: 3
This was the tightest out of the 4 games & could have gone either way. The most pleasing aspect of this game was 2 out of the 3 AC Hoylake goals were very good football goals from the coaches’ point of view, which involved very good running off the ball, skills to make space for the pass, through balls & finishing.
AC Hoylake Scorers: Mcgraa x2 Murphy

AC Hoylake Stars: 8 Wrexham Academy: 2
The closing down of Wrexham players in this game was excellent; also the shape of the Hoylake team was very good when we lost the ball. The player’s are starting to take on board the importance of keeping a good shape & closing down the opposition quickly when they have possession.

Scorers: Mcgraa x2 Porschke Walsh x5

Overall Record:-
Played  Won  Drawn  Lost For Against
4              1          1          2      18      19

Due to the level of football the Academy Team’s play I decided to draft in ‘Daniel Ashcroft’. A very good U8’s players to strengthen our Midfield. A  special thanks from me & the entire parents to ‘DAN’.
