It wasn't so long ago that Luke Robinson was turning out for AC Hoylake each week, but as of next season he'll be training and playing with Wigan Athletic after signing a two-year scholarship with the League One club.

Luke recently left AC Hoylake after being snapped up by Wrexham - just as some other AC Hoylake stars have been - and his impressive displays for the North Wales club put him on the radar of a number of clubs around the north west and beyond.

It was Wigan Athletic who won the race for Luke's signature though, paying Wrexham a compensation fee to secure his services on a two-year scholarship that will run from 2018 to 2020.

Everyone at AC Hoylake thanks Luke for being such an exemplary ambassador for the club and an example to all our players that hard work, dedication and ability can see them make the step up.

And we'd like to wish Luke the best of luck at Wigan and beyond.
