AC Hoylake coaches take their turn as students in CPD session delivered by Cheshire FA.

As part AC Hoylake's commitment to providing personal development opportunities for our volunteers Cheshire FA Skills coaches were invited to deliver a CPD (Continual Professional Development) session at Hoylake Rugby Club on October 27th.

Around 15 of the clubs coaches from across a broad range of age groups took part in the training session delivered by Rob Oakley and Paul Cleworth from Cheshire FA. The objectives were to demonstrate the new games that form some of the content from the new FA Level 1 course and to furnish the AC Hoylake coaches with fresh ideas and guidance for delivering their own training sessions with their players.

To consolidate their learning the (able bodied) coaches were asked to become the students during the practical elements of the evening i.e.become the students and play footy! There may have been a lot of huffing and puffing from the fellas but the hands on experience helped understand the outcomes better.

The content of the evening was based around the newly released England DNA (www.EnglandDNA.com)http://www.EnglandDNA.com and in particular the methodology of "How We Coach". Our coaches were shown 6 games / drills and ideas that they can take back to their own sessions and given tips and guidance around how to get the best of their once a week 60 minute training session regardless.

Many of those attending were excited with the simplicity and flexibility of the new ideas and left armed with with knowledge that will improve the kids' experiences for many months and years to come.

Finally a big thank you must go out to Hoylake Rugby Club for the use of their facilities and Rob Oakley and Paul Cleworth from Cheshire FA for sharing their experiences and expertise with all the AC hoylake coaches.
