Another AC Hoylake Youth team has graduated, ending a nine-year association with the club for Graham Pugh and Chris Acton.

Anyone who has ever been involved in coaching will know how tough it can be to keep a team together, regardless of whether it’s troubling the top, middle or bottom of the league table.

So it’s testament to Graham Pugh that the team he took over as a group of under eights has made it all the way to the club's oldest age group – nine years after he first took those fledgling footballers under his wing.

Chris Acton joined Graham to help coach the team, and the two have now successfully run the team right up to the Youth League, when age dictates that the lads will now need to play their football elsewhere - the joys of the open-age Saturday and Sunday leagues await them!

It can’t be stressed enough just how much of an achievement it is to run a team right up to Youth level – both Graham and Chris have done fantastic job in taking the lads right through the age groups.

Graham’s association with the club will continue though - his son Nathan, who helped with the academy for a number of years now assists Apollo U7, while his daughter, Jazz, has been integral in setting up the girls game at AC Hoylake, and coaches Galaxy U11.

Everyone at AC Hoylake would like to thank both Graham and Chris for all their hard work over the years.
