Blackpool "Rocks" For Our Under 12's

Tuesday saw our under 12's Comets trailing 2-1 after the first leg of their cup match with Stork Youth fall behind 2-0. They never gave up and battled well to earn 3-3 draw. Unfortunately the aggregate score was 5-4 to Stork Youth.

On Wednesday Our U12s Stars secured a good away victory with a 5-2 win at Ellesmere Port in their penultimate league game. Meanwhile it was a great end to the U12s Meteors league campaign winning 2-1 against a resurgent Panthers (Liscard)....who also happen to be the Meteors opponents in the Cup Final on May 30th.

Congratulations to our U12s mixed Comets/Meteors team who on Sunday finished runners up in the 2 day Blackpool JFC Tournament. Despite having never played together before they beat teams from England and Scotland before succumbing to an impressive Pwllheli in the final.

Sports Tours Blackpool Tournament.

Originally we had planned to go to the south coast but the travelling time meant we had to swap our plans to a Blackpool event instead.
2 days of tournament football against teams, from places as far afield as York, Glasgow and Wales along with some local Blackpool teams.

After a defeat in our first group game we got into our stride and won 4 and drew 2 of our next 6 matches to make it through to the final. In truth we were disappointed with the draws as we should've won both having hit the post and bar on a few occasions.

Through the tournament we scored 20 goals and conceded just 7 although our eventual opponents in the final, Pwllheli, beat us 3-0. They were just too strong, not conceding a goal the whole tournament.

The presentation evening was hosted at the Norbreck Castle Hotel where Dion Dublin presented the awards. We've got loads of photos that will be posted soon.

So, with only 9 players, no subs and games that were 30 minutes long the boys were extremely tired by the end of day 2, however the runners up trophy and medals were ample reward for their efforts. All in all the whole event was a great experience for both parents and players alike.

Only one competitive match left this week as we now enter the tournaments period. Our presentation day is Sunday 28th June, we will publish full details of the day's events in the coming weeks. A gentle reminder if you pays subs via direct debit it runs for 12 months so please don't cancel your payments over the summer months.
