Another Great Win For The Comets
By Ian Kennedy
Comets win 4-0 !
After a slow start to last weeks match against Cammell Lairds, the Comets were not going to make the same mistake twice with this weeks match against West Kirby Panthers Gold.
AC Hoylake Comets started the game very brightly with great passing and movement from Tom Parker Alfie Forsyth and Zach Ford.
The midfield trio worked well from the off and it wasn't long before a neat through ball from Alfie Forsyth to Daniel Kennedy left the striker one on one with the keeper and he buried the chance into the back of the net ! 1-0 Comets
Panthers reacted well to going a goal down and pressed hard for an equaliser but resolute defending from Ethan Ormesher and Alfie Weeks managed to keep them at bay.
And on the odd occasion that they managed to breach the defence, they had to try to beat the ever dependable Lewis Warburton in the Comets goal.Who made one in particular great save from the Panthers striker.
More neat build up play from Weeks and Ormesher released Parker down the right and a quick ball back inside gave Kennedy another opportunity which he took with a first time shot to the bottom corner. 2-0 Comets H-T
The second half started with a much more energetic performance from Panthers as they pushed hard to get back in the match.
But again with Ormesher and Weeks at their best and Burns replacing Warburton in the Comets goal the Panthers struggled to break the Comets defence.
The Comets managed to whether the storm and then started to gain the upper hand again as they played the ball around the park with great confidence.
Both wingers Ford and Parker were starting to really stretch the Panthers defence and it was from a break by Ford that the Comets earned a corner.
Tom Parker sent a great corner in to the box which immediately had the Panthers defence in all kinds of trouble they failed to deal with it properly and Alfie Weeks smashed home the third goal. 3-0 Comets
The game got a little scrappy in the latter stages and it was at this point that Comets lost their in form striker Kennedy to a clumsy challenge from the Panthers centre half which resulted in Kennedy being replaced by Warburton.
This didn't seem to trouble the Comets as they pressed for a fourth.
It was almost inevitable that the fourth goal came and what a great team goal it was !
Great one touch passing and superb running off the ball ended with man of the match Alfie Forsyth capping a great performance with a goal. 4-0 Comets FT
Another great performance from the whole squad !!!
