End to End stuff
Even game ahead?
With both teams on 6 points and having beaten the same opponents by a similar margin would it be an even game ahead?
The team were up for the game and enjoyed some early possession and created some great opening's but unfortunately we could not convert them into goals until 15 minutes in when Dom Francom went clear and drilled home to make it 1-0. This spurred on Park who threatened our goal on several occasions and may have scored but for some superb keeping by Flynn.
Connor Francom was cool headed and saw a great opportunity to shoot from distance and with the keeper dropping the ball and it going over the line, think Pedro Mendes (Tottenham) v Roy Carroll (Manchester United) 2005, it was 2-0, however we suffered the injustice as Spurs did and what was an obvious goal was chalked off. This served to rally the lads who stepped up a gear and when Connor saw a similar opportunity tried his luck again, this time the keeper flapped at the ball which screamed into the net, No doubt this time as the net bulged and we had seen probably the goal of the season. 2-0 after 25 minutes everything was going well. However we were brought down to earth by another inexplicable refereeing decision when he awarded a penalty to Park for a fair but robust challenge by Josh. Flynn faced his second penalty of the season but guessed the wrong way and their player made it 2-1. A number of chances fell to either team but both teams were guilty of being wasteful in front of goal however Park took one of their chances and levelled the game, 2-2 and it stayed that way until half time.
Each team putting subs on at half time did not change the flow of the game and it was end to end stuff although Park did have the better of the possession and thanks to some resolute defending we kept them at bay. We were starting to hit them on the break and were clean through on a couple of occasions but to no avail. With time ebbing away Park upped the pressure but the team dug in and although tiring stood firm and saw the game out to a draw.
A number of contenders for MOTM with Flynn, Connor, Ben Mc all in contention but Josh just shaded it given his last ditch blocks and superb marshalling of the defence.
