AC Hoylake Meteors – Under 10 – Match Report
10th September, vs Manor JFC, played at Acres Road
Result AC Hoylake 1 – Manor JFC 4
Players: Charlie, Sean, Danny, Elliot, Ben, Tom, Jacob, Theo, Bailey, Mathew,
First match of the season on a blustery Acres Road, we played Manor JFC for the first time and we started well for the first 10 minutes. Bailey started the match as he meant to go on with some strong runs ably supported by Mathew. However we fell behind on 11 minutes to a well struck half volley from a corner, at this point the boys heads dropped slightly and we quickly conceded two further goals to go in at half time trailing by three goals. This was not a fair reflection of the first half as we had battled well and had a couple of chances hit the post and saved by the keeper. Half time gave us the opportunity to make some changes and to gee the lads up. The came out after the break with their tails up and almost scored straight away, after a corner and a goal mouth scramble, then we had a couple of further near misses, one hitting the crossbar from Bailey, another header from Elliot just going over, and excellent saves by Manors keeper kept both Theo and Jacobs shots out. After 12 minutes we got the goal we deserved, with Mathew running down the left and shooting in from the angle. We battled on and were again denied by their keeper, and unfortunately conceded another gaol on the break. Once again we bounced back and laid siege to the Manor goal but luck had deserted us today, and we only managed to score the once. The final score was 1-4 and Mathew was the man of the match.

AC Hoylake Meteors – Under 10’s – Match Report 17th September 2011,
AC Hoylake Meteors vs Ridgewood Rangers, played at Fishers Lane, Pensby
Result AC Hoylake 1 – Ridgewood Rangers 2
Players: Charlie, Ben, Danny, Sean, Bailey, Adam, Matthew, Elliot, Harry and Jacob
It was the Meteors first away game of the season against Ridgewood Rangers on their new home pitch at Fishers Lane, Pensby. The teams were equally matched and the first half was end to end attacking with Bailey going close after cutting in brilliantly from the corner of the box. The Rangers keeper also saved a couple of excellent shots from Jacob and Harry. Sean, Ben and Danny did a fantastic job of limiting Ridgewood Rangers attacks on goal. On the one occasion that the Rangers Striker got beyond our last defender Charlie dived spectacularly to the left making a finger tip save to push the ball out for a corner. Half way through the first half Adam came on to make his AC Hoylake Meteors debut showing great enthusiasm and promise with his tackling and dribbling skills. His crossing ability from corners will cause a lot of trouble for defences this season.
Half time 0-0.
Half time gave us the opportunity to change our goal keeper with Jacob coming in for Charlie, who started the second half up front. Five minutes into the second half Rangers broke through our defence and slotted the ball past our keeper to make it 1-0. We then upped the tempo and Adam, Bailey and Matthew started to dominate the game, and then after wave after wave of attacks Matthew coolly crossed the ball into the box only for a Rangers defender to deliberately handle the ball in the area and the referee pointed to the spot. After much discussion between the players on who was going to take the penalty Bailey stood up and rifled the ball past the keeper to make it 1-1. Half way through the second half Elliot came back on and went up front; he seems to have grown in confidence this season and went on a magnificent run beating two players before shooting narrowly wide. With four minutes remaining and against the run of play the Rangers winger ran half the length of the pitch and scored from a tight angle into the bottom corner to make it 2-1. Hoylake had a late onslaught on goal with Ben nearly lobbing the keeper from another Adam corner and Bailey and Harry going close again. Overall it was a fantastic effort by the lads and if they carry on in this form they will definitely win more than they will lose this season. Man of match went to Bailey.
