We're sorry to announce AC Hoylake Comets U13s have folded, bringing to an end Paul Cavanagh's eight-year association with the club.

It is with deep regret that we have to announce our under 13’s Comets have folded, meaning the team's manager, Paul Cavanagh, and a number of the players will be ending long associations with the club.

An amazing job

Paul started out cheering on the lads, and his son Patrick, from the sidelines eight years ago, and then stepped up to take over the running of the team four years ago.

As anyone who has managed a team will attest to, it's a big undertaking that goes well beyond picking a team to play every Saturday, and Paul manage the team single-handedly for four years - an amazing job, and one that kept the team going year-after-year.

Paul also helped steer the team to a memorable cup win and a Futsal league win - both great achievements that he and everyone can be immensely proud of.

A number of the Comets have played for AC Hoylake since they were tiny, and some will be moving to other teams within the club, while others will be moving on to new teams for a new challenge at a different club.

Paul himself will now be watching Patrick play his football at West Kirby, and while he'll enjoy the (relatively) stress-free experience of watching as a parent, we know he'll still be kicking every ball along with the lads.

Everyone at AC Hoylake would like to thank Paul and all the lads fro representing and being a part of the club for so many years, as well as for the great effort over the last few years - we wish them all the very best for the future.
